vignette of a day's conversation...

We treaded the dusty field in the blazing sunlight in an act of bravery. As usual, little conversations broke out to keep company. " The leaves are all gone, see", said she. And with her ready wit came up with one or two lines of poetry to which i clumsily added another line just to ,as i have said ,keep company. Spring this time is on a very short visit. In a whisker it'll be gone! The brown leaves are strewn all over the place, carpeting the floor giving us a 'brown carpet' welcome.

Time nowadays doesn't fly; it has an annual ticket booked on the fastest moving space shuttle. It likes to give time to the celestial world. The planet of human race is just not worth time's time! Anyway, evening filled with mild breeze dawned on nature shifting the conversations to another angle. The brown leaves doesn't appeal anymore in the glow of the neon street lights.
"you know what? The philosopher said that post- colonial is not POST colonial but its POST- 'lakdi wali post' colonial as a thesis statement"." HAAN!!???", came the reply in loud unison. This would certainly prove to be a milestone statement someday!

''Jao! tum jao (heavily accented people can only say thus), i have to do my term paper", "Tumhari bharat (baarat- again only non-hindi speakers can say thus) aaya hein", "I like her poetry but not her", " Pennsylvania students are more bright than Indians", filled the evening air. Ripples of laughter broke through hitting passer-by's who couldn't help lending an ear to these fun-filled conversations.
'' What do we have for dinner?" marked the end of a lively episode as we went inside the mess with cringing noses in anticipation of insipid food.
